Today is Suchitra Sen's 94th birthday. The late actress was born on 6 April 1931 in Pabna Sadar. He moved to Kolkata with his family before the partition of India in 1947. There is no dearth of popularity of this artist in both Bengal.

Suchitra Sen's real name is Rama Dasgupta. She started her film career with the film 'Shesh Kathe' in 1952. But the movie wasn't released.
Just the next year, she starred opposite Uttam Kumar in the film 'Sade Chuvattar'. Since then, the duo has been an integral part of Bengali cinema.
Uttam-Suchitra's 30 Bengali films have seen success. Prominent among them are 'Agnipariksha', 'Above All', 'Papmochan', 'Shilpi', 'Sagarika', 'Pathe Hal Diri', 'Loser Sur', 'Grihadah', 'Dear Girlfriend' etc.
He went into hiding in 1978 after 25 years of acting. He lived alone in a flat in Kolkata for 36 years. He lived in self-imposed exile and was a mystery.
She died on 17 January 2014 at the age of 82 at Belle Vue Hospital in Kolkata after suffering a heart attack.
