| Bangladesh women's team in World Cup |
This is the second time Bangladesh have qualified for the Women's World Cup. Basically, Jyothi's luck opens up as she is ahead in the run rate. West Indies, on the other hand, failed to qualify for the World Cup after losing to Thailand. Chasing a target of 167 runs set by the Thais, the Caribbeans had to win in 10.1 overs.
Thailand lost their first wicket for 30 runs after being put in to bat in Lahore on Saturday (April 19). Chanida returned for 21 and R Bochatham was dismissed for 29. Nannapat scored the highest 66 runs for the team.
Thailand scored 166 runs despite losing wickets at regular intervals. In reply, Mathews scored 70 runs off 29 balls. Henry scored 48 runs off 17 balls. But the victory came in 10.5 overs for the loss of 4 wickets - which was not enough to ensure the World Cup.
On the other hand, the red-green girls gave a target of 179 runs to Pakistan after batting first in Lahore on the same day. In reply, the hosts won by 7 wickets with 10 overs and 2 balls to spare. However, despite losing the match, Bangladesh got a place in the World Cup by the margin of run rate.
