| Morgan suggests Stokes as England captain |
Former England captain Eoin Morgan has made a unique proposal to the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) regarding the captaincy of white-ball cricket. He only wants to consider Ben Stokes as a captain in big tournaments.
In an interview with Sky Sports, the 2019 ODI World Cup-winning captain said there would be no obligation for Stokes to take over as full-time captain. His assistant will lead the team in bilateral series with Stokes in charge in major tournaments. The rest of the time, Stokes will only think about the Test. The former England captain preferred Harry Brook as an alternative in this plan.
Jos Buttler has stepped down as England captain following the team's failure in the Champions Trophy. Speculation is rife over who will be England's new white-ball captain. Two names have repeatedly come up in the leadership of the English. One is Ben Stokes and the other is Harry Brook.
