| BNP sees Yunus-Modi meeting as' ray of hope' |
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's first bilateral meeting with Bangladesh's Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus on the sidelines of the BIMSTEC Summit in Bangkok is being seen as a "beacon of hope."
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said it was a very happy meeting. We believe that in the context of geopolitics and current global politics and the context of the Bangladesh-India region, the meeting of our Chief Advisor Dr. Yunus and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi Saheb has created a ray of hope in front of us.

The BNP secretary general was responding to a question from reporters at the BNP chairperson's Gulshan office on Friday evening.
He said that the bitterness created in the relations between India and Bangladesh should not go further or it should come down. There's a possibility.
Mirza Fakhrul said that as far as I have seen, I think both of them are sincere enough in this regard and it will undoubtedly benefit the people of both Bangladesh and India.

Briefing reporters after the meeting, Principal Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam said the Bangladesh side raised various issues of interest, including the extradition of Sheikh Hasina.
Meanwhile, the BNP secretary general exchanged Eid greetings with the officials of the sports arena, organizations and sportspersons before talking to reporters at his Gulshan office. BNP chairperson's adviser Abdul Awal Mintoo, BNP joint secretary general Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, organising secretary Abdus Salam Azad and ex-Dhaka City unit BNP members secretary Abdus Salam were, among others, present at the meeting.
