BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan has said the party does not need any movement for the next general election. He said BNP is hopeful that the interim government will work towards fulfilling the aspirations of the people.
He made the remarks after a meeting of the 12-party alliance at the BNP chairperson's political office in Gulshan on Saturday (April 19) afternoon.
Nazrul Islam Khan said BNP has agreed on many issues with the 12-party alliance. The government has called for elections to be held between December and June. We want elections in December. The BNP and the 12-party alliance believe that the fascist Awami League should be tried for genocide and crimes against humanity.
On the other hand, Mostafa Zaman Haider, chairman of the 12-party alliance, said it is possible to hold elections by December. He, therefore, sought a clear roadmap for holding the elections by December to avoid confusion.
He also said that the fascists in the administration must be removed and the July-August massacre must be prosecuted. There will be a meeting with the LDP in the evening. BNP will hold regular meetings with other like-minded political parties. They plan to complete all the meetings within two weeks.
