According to a research by Fortify Rights, Bangladeshi authorities have minimized or denied the existence of Rohingya armed groups, allowing them to function unchallenged for years despite the rising violence in the Rohingya refugee camps of Cox's Bazar.
The "'I May Be Killed at Any Moment' – Killing, Abduction, Torture and Other Serious Violations by Rohingya Militant Groups in Bangladesh" study was released today.
It said that by ignoring these organizations, Bangladeshi authorities were causing the security situation in the camps to escalate.
The report claims that armed factions have been committing acts of violence against Rohingya refugees for years. In 2021, 2022, 2023, and at least 65 last year, extremists located in camps killed 22 people.
