The United Nations special envoy to Palestine, Francesca Albanese, said Israel had dropped a bomb six times more powerful than Hiroshima to destroy Gaza.

He said this while presenting the latest report on the overall situation in Palestine at the UN Human Rights Council on Thursday (July 3). Al Jazeera reported.

Albanese said that 85,000 tons of explosives had been dropped to destroy Gaza, which is six times stronger than Hiroshima. The arms companies have made almost record profits by equipping Israel with sophisticated weapons to launch them. Israel is responsible for one of the worst massacres in modern history.

The UN special envoy to Palestine says the situation in the occupied Palestinian territory is dire. More than 200,000 Palestinians have been killed, according to official figures. But health experts say the real death toll is likely much higher.

Gaza's health ministry said at least 118 Palestinians were killed and 581 wounded in Israeli strikes on Gaza in the past 24 hours. Among the dead were 12 people who had gone to relief camps supported by the United States and Israel.

Gaza's health ministry also said that at least 57,130 people have been killed and 134,592 injured in Israeli attacks in Gaza since October 2023.
