Bangladesh has reached out to India to arrange a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Advisor Dr Muhammad Yunus in Bangkok, Thailand. Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali said this in an interview with news agency ANI on Thursday.

The initiative is seen as a diplomatic effort on the part of Bangladesh, which can strengthen relations between the two countries as well as advance regional cooperation.

The 6th BIMSTEC Summit will be held in Bangkok in the first week of April. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz will also attend the meeting.
"We are in touch with India diplomatically for a meeting between the two leaders on the sidelines of the BIMSTEC Summit," Foreign Affairs Adviser Tawhid Hossain told news agency ANI.

The main objective of this conference is to strengthen regional cooperation - especially in the areas of economic development, trade, and social enterprises. This meeting of the Indian Prime Minister with Dr. Yunus, who is known worldwide in the field of social business and poverty alleviation, can create an opportunity for important discussions on regional and global development issues.

The summit is being seen as an important platform to deepen ties between the BIMSTEC member countries. This initiative of Bangladesh is being seen as a positive step in regional diplomacy.
Meanwhile, Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus will hold a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing on March 28. Meanwhile, efforts are being made to arrange a meeting of the Chief Advisor with the Indian Prime Minister.

This is Dr Yunus's first visit to China after the interim government came to power.
