Trump expresses concern over Thailand-Cambodia conflict

U.S. President Donald Trump says the leaders of Cambodia and Thailand have agreed to meet immediately to quickly implement a cease-fire.

In a report on Sunday, the British news agency Reuters said that US President Donald Trump has called for a ceasefire on the border between Thailand and Cambodia. He said he had held talks with the leaders of the two countries and both sides agreed to hold early peace talks.

"At the start of his visit to his private golf resort in Scotland on Saturday (July 26) local time, Trump wrote on his social media site Truth Social that" "both countries have agreed to a rapid dialogue aimed at a cease-fire and ultimately peace." ""

Thailand's acting Prime Minister Phumthom Weichaiwacha also confirmed the ceasefire agreement. "Thailand wants to see proof of Cambodia's sincerity in this regard. '

At least 33 soldiers and civilians have been killed and thousands displaced since the cross-border shelling began on July 24.
