Thousands of Israelis protested in the Israeli capital Tel Aviv on Saturday. "They called for a solution under a"full ceasefire agreement," "demanding the release of Israelis held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip."

"The Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth said the protesters were demanding a"full and impartial agreement" "that would see all prisoners held in Gaza - alive or dead - released."

Family members of many prisoners also took part in the protest. They raised slogans against any temporary or partial agreement. Because they fear that a small number of prisoners may be released again.

Relatives of many of the detainees spoke at the rally, calling for increased pressure on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government to reach a full agreement without further delay.

At the same time as the Tel Aviv protests, the Israeli government announced that it had agreed to send a delegation to Doha, the capital of Qatar. They will negotiate a prisoner swap deal with Hamas in Gaza. "Hamas responded" "positively" "to Trump's proposal."

Israeli public broadcaster KAN said the mediators were hopeful that an agreement could be reached to resolve the differences between the two sides.

According to the Hebrew-language Haaretz newspaper, Netanyahu is scheduled to travel to Washington on Sunday morning. He will also meet US President Donald Trump.

According to the Israeli government, there are currently 50 prisoners in Gaza. At least 20 of them are alive. On the other hand, there are more than 10,400 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, who suffer from various forms of torture, starvation and medical neglect. According to Palestinian and Israeli human rights organizations, many prisoners have already died.

Despite international calls for a ceasefire, Israel has been waging a devastating and genocidal offensive in Gaza for the past 22 months. More than 57,400 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed since October 2023.

In November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Galant on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Meanwhile, a genocide case against the Israeli aggression in Gaza is also underway at the International Court of Justice (ICJ). Source: Anadolu
