One in three Palestinians spend the day without eating in Gaza

One in three Palestinians spend the day without eating in Gaza

According to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), one in three Palestinians in the Gaza Strip spend the day without eating. Although the organization has begun to reach out with food aid to the valley, it is far short of what is needed.

The WFP called on the Israeli authorities to allow at least 100 aid trucks a day to enter the north, center and south of Gaza.

In a statement, the WFP said that after opening the border to a small amount of aid on May 21, it had been able to send some aid trucks. But the aid sent so far is only a small fraction of the food needed to sustain more than two million people. '

A recent assessment by the organization found that nearly one in three people go without eating every day.

Citing the latest report of the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IEPC), the WFP said there is a high risk of severe famine in Gaza if the conflict continues and humanitarian aid does not reach.

According to the WFP, some 470,000 people could face extreme hunger between May and September this year. To illustrate the gravity of the situation, the organization said that bread flour is now being sold at a price 3,000 times higher than before the start of the war, and cooking oil is not available.
