During Ramadan, the price of goods has decreased compared to before, people have been relieved: Dr. Yunus

During Ramadan, the price of goods has decreased compared to before

''We have taken all measures to strictly counter the supply chain disruptions during the holy month of Ramadan," said Prof Muhammad Yunus, chief adviser to the interim government. There have been reports from all parts of the country that the prices of commodities have decreased in this Ramadan compared to before and the people have got relief. These efforts will continue to keep prices under control.

He said this while addressing the nation on the occasion of Independence Day and Eid-ul-Fitr at 7pm on Tuesday (March 25).
The chief adviser said the common people were the victims of the terrible looting that Sheikh Hasina had perpetrated in the last 16 years. They left behind a plundered economy as they fled in the face of a student uprising. Since taking office, the interim government has taken various initiatives to revive the economy.

He said discipline has returned to the banking sector, and other indicators of the economy are gradually returning to a positive trend. Inflation is the biggest challenge for the government. Inflation fell to a 22-month low of 9.32 per cent in February. It is expected to fall to 8% in June.
Saying that the country's banks were taken over like char grabs during the fugitive government, Dr Yunus said they converted the depositors' money into their own personal money. One of the tasks of the interim government was to restore confidence in the banking system, establish order by protecting the interests of depositors, establish credibility in accounting.
He said that during the previous government, there was a festival of looting and money was laundered abroad in many innovative ways. Meanwhile, a method of smuggling in the name of sending money to a child studying abroad has shocked everyone. About Rs 400 crore has been siphoned off in the official banking channel for one semester's expenses. All such things are possible when Horilut is established in the place of laws, rules, principles. International efforts have already been intensified to bring these money launderers under the law as soon as possible.
