At least 144 killed in Myanmar earthquake, 81 missing in Bangkok

At least 144 people have been killed by a 7.3 magnitude earthquake in Mandalay, Myanmar. Most of the deaths were in the capital, Naypyidaw. At least 96 people have died. Besides, 30 deaths were reported in Mandalay and 18 in Saga.

At least 732 people were injured. The number of deaths could further go up. State television MRTV quoted Reuters news agency as reporting the deaths and injuries.
Meanwhile, 81 people are still missing after a 30-storey building collapsed in Thailand's capital Bangkok.

About 320 workers were in the building at the time of the collapse, the BBC reported. 20 of them were trapped in the elevator.
It is not known how many people died there. Rescuers are continuing to search for survivors and a field hospital has been set up at the scene.
A state of emergency has been declared in Bangkok and parts of Myanmar following the earthquake. "The head of Myanmar's junta, Min Aung Hlaing, has invited" "any country and organization" "in the world to help with rescue and relief efforts."
It is to be noted that the 7.3-magnitude earthquake struck at 12: 21 pm on Friday (March 28). Its place of origin was Mandalay. The distance from Dhaka to the place of origin is 597 km.
