UK sanctions Israel's finance minister and security minister

Britain has imposed sanctions on two Israeli ministers over their comments on Gaza. This was reported by the BBC on Tuesday.

It said both Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich would be banned from entering the UK. Any of their assets in the UK will be seized as part of the move.

"British Foreign Secretary David Lammy said Israeli Finance Minister Tom Smotrich and National Security Minister Ben-Gvir had" "incited extremist violence and serious violations of Palestinian human rights." 

In response, Israel said that such actions against elected representatives and members of the government are highly condemnable.

Both Smotrich and Ben-Gvir have been widely criticized for their positions on the war in Gaza.

"According to the BBC, Smotrich has campaigned against aid entering Gaza, while Ben-Gvir has called for Gazans to be"resettled"from the territory."
