Iran confirms attack on U.S. base in Qatar |
Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has officially confirmed the missile attack on the US airbase in Qatar, al-Udeid.
Al-Jazeera reported that the missile attack was carried out by the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) in retaliation for the US attack on three Iranian nuclear facilities.
Several explosions were heard in Doha, the capital of Qatar. The report said the missile was aimed at the al-Udeid base. There were also reports of a missile attack on a US base in Iraq.
The United States attacked three Iranian nuclear facilities on Saturday night. Iran has previously said that if the United States launches a direct attack, it will be difficult to respond.
So far, neither the U.S. Department of Defense nor the Qatari government has issued an official statement. Iran has acknowledged the attack.
A high security alert had already been imposed around the Al-Udeid base.
This could signal the deepening of the war in the Middle East and the direct involvement of the United States in the Iran-Israel conflict.
