Will the U.S. attack Iran?

Will the U.S. attack Iran?

Speculation is rife over whether President Donald Trump has the authority to launch a US strike in the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict. According to the U.S. Constitution, only Congress has the power to declare war, but history shows that many presidents have bypassed Congress in the past.

This time, some US Congressmen are up in arms to prevent Trump from taking such an initiative. Because I don't think it's an American war. Constitutionally, they do not support any unilateral military action by the president without congressional approval.

Senator Chris Vann said the United States should not go to war with Iran at this time. The president does not have the power to declare war, only Congress has. Trump said he's here to stop all wars, not start them. That's the debate among Republicans every day.

Republican Congressman Thomas Massie and Democrat Congressman Ro Khanna introduced a joint resolution in the House of Representatives. The US president cannot launch a military strike on Iran without Congress's approval. The proposal is currently in the House Foreign Affairs Committee, where it will go directly to the House for a vote if no action is taken within 15 days. If the resolution is passed, President Trump will not be able to launch a major military strike or war in Iran without the approval of Congress.

But Trump is under increasing pressure from allies in the Middle East as well as businesses not to attack Iran, not just constitutional obstacles. If the United States gets involved in this conflict, the world economy will also suffer.

Philip Ingram, a former U.S. intelligence official, said that if the U.S. launches an operation in Iran, it could shut down the Hormuz system. At present, 20 per cent of the world's oil and gas trade takes place through this route. And if that happens, the global economy will be at risk.

In the past, the United States was directly involved in the Korean War and Vietnam War. Therefore, there is a lot of speculation about their direct stance on the Iran-Israel issue.
